Sonia Grineva, born in Moscow, Russia, earned her B.A. and M.F.A. degrees from the prestigious Stroganov Art Institute, known for producing legendary artists like Kandinsky, Malevich, and Rodchenko. At 20, she moved to the United States, continuing her studies at the National Academy of Design in Manhattan, where she was awarded a coveted traveling scholarship that took her to Florence, Italy, to study at the British Institute.

Sonia’s passion for painting has taken her across the globe. A dedicated plein air artist, she has captured the landscapes of New England, the South, California, and Europe, creating stunning works of Venice, La Rochelle, Monte Carlo, Dieppe, and Prague. In recent years, she has focused on Italy, painting everything from Puglia’s olive groves to the snowcapped peaks of Alto Adige, drawing inspiration from Italy’s rich history, culture, and artistic heritage.

Internationally renowned for her oil and watercolor landscapes and abstract art, Sonia is also a master of printmaking and sculpture. In New York, her Manhattan cityscapes have made her a local favorite. Her work is featured in galleries across the U.S., Europe, and in countless private, public, and museum collections.

Sonia has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career and currently works from her art studio in Union Square, New York City.
